Mississippi Makes Medical Marijuana Legal
By Radiant HealthPublished: February 6, 2022
Residents of Mississippi who suffer from serious illnesses like sickle cell disease, AIDS, and cancer can now legally access medical marijuana. In 2020, voters agreed that medical patients should be allowed to have up to 5 ounces, but Governor Tate Reeves argued that was too much, and it would lead to more illegal recreational usage. Instead, Reeves signed legislation that allows medical patients to purchase up to 3 ounces of marijuana per month. The state will benefit from the taxes it will impose on sales and production of the drug.
