The First Condom is Approved for Anal Sex
By Radiant HealthPublished: February 26, 2022
The FDA approved the first-ever condom created specifically for anal sex. The latex ONE Male Condom made by Global Protection Corp. was already approved for vaginal sex, but the company can now market the product for anal sex as well. The agency made its decision based on a clinical study done at Emory University. The results indicated that the condom’s failure rate was 3% during vaginal sex and only 1% during anal sex. Anal intercourse is a riskier type of sex because viruses like HPV and HIV are more easily transmitted.
