World AIDS Day 2021: HIV Disproportionately Affects Black and Hispanic Men

A report released by the CDC in honor of World AIDS Day found that only white gay and bisexual men have seen a decrease in HIV infections over the past decade. The rate of Hispanic gay and bisexual men with HIV was higher in 2019 than it was in 2010. Black men’s rate of infection remained roughly the same in that time period. Men of color are less likely to be diagnosed with the disease, or use antivirals or prophylactic measures.
