New Antibody Drug Available for Those with Compromised Immune Systems

The FDA has announced that Evusheld, an antibody drug, is now available under emergency use authorization to help people with compromised immune systems to avoid getting infected with Covid-19. The drug, which is manufactured by AstraZeneca, is specifically designed for children over the age of 12 and adults with serious conditions like cancer and rheumatoid arthritis. About 2-3% of people in the United States have compromised immune systems, and vaccines do not work as well on this population.
