Day 13 Wellness Action: Embrace Your Spices

There is more to cooking and adding flavor than the use of salt and “the cube.” Some spices can be used to bring out the natural flavors of your meals and others can be used to imbue certain flavors of food that wouldn’t normally have them.

An example is using cinnamon in your oatmeal to enhance its flavor so that you don’t have to use as much sugar; or using curry and thyme to cook your meat so that the end result is more delicious than what you started with.

Spices not only make your meals more delicious but some of them have disease fighting properties. Spices like ginger, garlic, cayenne (our hot red pepper) and turmeric are superstars in their own right that can boost your body’s ability to ward off disease. Day 13 Workout: Rep Timed Challenge

Timed workouts are great; they allow the very fit and less fit to do the same workout because the very fit will simply do more sets/reps than the less fit person. Both, however, will still end up working as hard as each other.

Storm through the following mini-circuit as many times as you can in 10 minutes. Rest when necessary but be aware that the clock is always ticking so don’t dilly-dally!

  • 5 Tricep push up
  • 10 curtsy squats
  • 15 W-sits Sit up
